Adhoc meeting held 2/17/2009
Tue, 02/17/2009 - 9:22pm — PhilA
The Area Vice Chair led an Adhoc meeting this evening concerning a proposed change in our guidelines which would allow GSR's to also be subcommittee memebers. What follows is his report on the meeting. Thank you Eric B.
see the e-mail sent to me by the vice chair below.
What was agreed to be
What was agreed to be changed at the ADHOC meeting, and what was emailed out, is as follows:
O. It is important that no member of the executive body hold more than one position at the MBASC. Whenever possible this needs to be adhered to. However, the needs of our groups and the MBASC require flexibility with respect to this. Our groups need representation and our sub-committees need chairs. A GSR, upon election to an alternate executive body position or exectutive body position, may continue to serve as a GSR until such time the GSR is replaced. Executive body members can continue as subcommittee chairs until such time as a replacement can be found.
It appears, prior to posting, there were further changes to the email I sent out. In the second to the last sentence," an alternate executive body position" was taken out.
What was posted is not what was agreed at the ADHOC.
I edited the spelling and
I edited the spelling and what I thought what was a double phase in what was e-mailed to me. This is an exact copy pasted from my e-mail. Sorry about the mishap.
In the MBANA Guidlines article 7 line item O reads:
O. It is important that no member of the executive body, subcommittee chairs or GSR’s hold more than one position at the MBASC. Whenever possible this needs to be adhered to. However, the needs of our groups and the MBASC require flexibility with respect to this. Our groups need representation and our sub-committees need chairs. A GSR upon election to an alternate executive body position or a subcommittee chair may continue to serve as a GSR until such time the GSR is replaced. Executive body members can continue as subcommittee chairs until such time as a replacement can be found.
At the MBASC meeting on 2-14-09 there was a motion to change this item to allow members of the MBA to hold subcommittee chair positions and be GSR's at the same time. Theere was to much debate on the topic and it was deferred to ADHOC. Here is what we came up wqith at the ADHOC held on 2-17-09 at 76:30pm:
This newly drafted item O will be presented to the MBASC body next month for vote to ammend the guidelines at that time, or further ADHOC, if needed. Present tonite were Dalene A(briefly as she had leave), Dennis R, Ken, James R, Phil A and myself.
