What would you like to see added to this site?

CIRNA.org has been undergoing some big changes...
What would you like to see added to this site in the future?

Speaker List

It would be beneficial to have a section where people who are willing to speak at meetings could place their name, clean date, area from, if they are willing to travel and if so how far. Finding speakers with a true message of recovery can be difficult and very time consuming. Right now the women's meeting I attend relys on word of mouth and by attending meetings outside our area hoping to find women willing to share their experience, strength, and hope. A list would be beneficial in bringing the people willing to speak together with the speaker getters. This may possibly allow more time for the speaker getters to help in other commitment areas.

MEETING CODES

I want to go to a meeting. I download the schedule. I cross reference the codes to the codes list to find the meeting for me. I quickly become confused. What could "SS" be referring to? Super Sport...Stainless steel....sister, sister?
I wonder what "E" refers to? Cyberspace....erroneous....egg? "WC" could be white couples....with care....or will call. Code "P" could be pill, parking or the Pokono's. Is this information provided for the newcomer trying to find his way or the old timer that is familiar with all this and probably wouldn't be looking at this site anyway? I think I just found the perfect excuse to postpone this. I was going to a meeting because I felt the need to...not because I really want to. Maybe next time out.

Meeting Codes

Meeting codes, for Areas that provide them, are listed on the right-hand side of the page. Currently, only Southwest and Lower Desert Areas provide meeting codes.

Information provided on this site comes entirely from the Areas, and any inaccuracies should be brought to the attention of that specific area.

Adding and Changing NA Meeting Information

As NA continues to grow it appears that it is not easy to get a new meeting listed in the NA.ORG & CIRGNA Sites. This is a great dis-service to our fellows who are starting new meetings, and furthermore a disincentive to new group posting.
There is a new group(8 or more months old) that has not been able to get help to enter the meeting in NAWS or NA.ORG Website Meeting Lists. Meat & Potatoes Meeting/Thurday Eves 6-7pm/Step Guide Work Book & Discussion/All are welcome.
Secretary is Eddie M. 818 388-6640 Site: 32150 Candlewood Dr.(MCC Building),Cathedral City, CA 92234 Off of Ramon Road.
Please forward this to the individual(s) That can quickly respond to thier need to get the word out to addict who still suffer. Thanks

How to Add a Meeting

The meeting information on this site is provided by the Areas, and is actually quite easy to update. (It doesn't take any more technical skill than it takes to post a comment to this forum.) Each area is meant to have someone (or multiple people) in charge of updating their meeting info and activity/service mtg. info on the site.

The meeting you referenced is already listed under Lower Desert on this site, and I have updated the address based on the information you provided.

update directory

Be nice if the hemet meetings were updated on line. went to unity church tonight to a dark room. Had 2 new comers with me wound up at AA. billy 2 l's

(Webmaster's Note - this comment moved from CIRCNA X: Take Our Inventory topic on 11/4/08)

On-line meetings

I am totally disabled and in a Skilled Nursing Facility in Highland Park. I use an Electric Wheelchair but have no idea about where I am at. I used to live in the city of Ventura in Ventura County. I need to find meetings in my area or on-line. Can someone please help me. My number is 323-982-0899. Thanks Cyndy Z.

update your listing

please update your list with correct time and locations i found better info with the aa meetings regarding na meetings. and i called to verify that your list of meetings were updated but i found that was'nt true after wasting my time and gas i've got enough problems as it is, trying to comply with the courts , trying to stay clean and find support so please UPDATE LIST

What area are you in?

Although the accuracy of the meeting information on this site is dependent upon the areas to provide current information and changes, it would be helpful if you could let us know which area or town, and what meeting(s) you were unable to locate. I can then provide those details to the appropriate Regional Committee Member and request current information. Thanks!

A webmaster would be nice.

A webmaster would be nice. LOL!!!

BE OF SERVICE THEN

SO STEP UP AND BE OF SERVICE THEN.........

H and I

This website is so complicated....the mother of all our programs (A>A ) has a site that tells you when, where a meeting is....when the H and I meeting monthly is (last weds fellowship Hall) even tells you who has certain panels, who NEEDS speakers or panel members....if i was NEW i wouldnt have a clue on how to get help.....one thing that bugs me is that this program is supposed to be SIMPLE and it looks so pretentious. You guys are just addicts, not politicians.....KEEP IT SIMPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some Feedback and a Request: Get Specific

Anonymous, thanks for your feedback... I served as Webmaster to CIRNA previously, and would love to discuss your concerns.

If you've got ideas about how to better inform or direct the Newcomer that visits this site; keep the site simple; or provide more information... by all means, please share your thoughts. And, I'd also suggest attending the Regional meeting to share your input and suggestions

It would be great to get more information about H&I or any other Area subcommittees on the site. Unfortunately, without information from the Areas, this web site is deaf and dumb. Areas are responsible for providing updated and accurate information.

If you're looking for a meeting, the "Find a Meeting" on the left side of the pages on this site should help you find which area you're looking for meeting information in, or you can simply click on an area if you already know which one you're looking for. Again, the accuracy of the meeting information is based on how recently the areas have updated their information, or provided updates.

As far as pretentious goes, I guess it's in the eye of the beholder. Nothing about this web site is intended to be anything other than clean, simple and accurate. As to "politics", I don't know anyone associated with this web site or the Region who has any aspirations other than to carry the message to the addict who still suffers the best we know how, and keep the fellowship informed of what's going on.

This web site is intended to be a collaborative effort, so please be specific about your areas of concern. Comments such as "This website is so complicated" provide little useable information... Where, "I couldn't find any information about H&I on the home page," might provide a bit more clear direction to evaluate what changes might be made to address the problem. Suggestions for solutions to those problems would also be welcomed.

Thanks again for your feedback.

Great site. I think it would definately benefit with a link to the San Diego webpage.
Thx for being of service.

Good idea!

That's a great idea Chris... Unfortunately our web policies (there's a link at the bottom of the page) limit this site to providing links to na.org for all non-CIRNA related information.

I'd like to see people start using the new features

More than adding anything new, I'd like to see people start using the new features of this site. There's a lot of cool new stuff "under the hood" here at cirna.org, and I hope it will ultimately benefit the fellowship and make this site even more useful.

New features include:

  • Subscriptions to Regional and/or Convention email news and updates.
  • Listings of upcoming service committees and activites on Area, Activities, and Committees pages.
  • This forum, and the ability to participate in it.
  • Speak Up: Polls or surveys AND results from those.

Cool stuff you don't see:

  • This site is now 100% Content Management System (CMS) driven. In simple terms, this means that 'information' on this site can be updated without touching the 'design' of the site. This also means that a single 'story' can be pulled into several different 'pages' (for example: Calendar entries show up on the Calendar, as well as on Committees, Activites, Convention, and Area pages). We create the content (the story) once, but it can be categorized and pulled into any appropriate page (and usually without any extra work).
  • Different members can be made 'managers' of specific portions of this site, without turning over control or access to sensitive or critical features. THIS IS HUGE, because it gives us the ability to get other members involved in creating and managing content on this site.
  • Different members can be granted different levels of access to site information. This means that, for instance, the casual user/browser of this site might not have access to meeting minutes, etc., but a registered user would (this feature isn't in use yet).
  • Content Expiration. This means less maintenance and upkeep for the Webmaster, as stories or information which have reached their 'expiration' are automatically removed from the site.

I'd like to see people start using the new features

Great Job Mike I am impressed every time I visit this site and get stuck here just looking around, and commenting or reading the others comments too Kool!!!!!!!

Site Features

I would just like to take a moment and compliment you on a well formed attractive site that commands a proffessional respect from a fellow developer. Great job. It is clean and a pleasure to navigate. The style is simple and sweet. I find it odd that more members do not find the time to utilize your forum. I hope in time to see more commentaries in the other forums.

The new features

I want to compliment the webmaster on the new features, thanks Mike.

I had difficulty posting a flyer with images in it but at least got the info up.

One question? Is it possible that each area could have it's own forum?

New Features - Permission Updates

Phil, thanks for the compliments. I have made the following updates to Area Administrator privileges:
- Added Upload Privileges so that you should be able to upload a flyer for an event now
- Changed Forum privileges so that you can add specific Forum topics, and edit those topics. If you want a completely separate Forum that was accessible under your Area Listing, I could probably do that too, but it would take a bit more doing.

Thanks Mike

I was asked by the Morongo Basin Service Area to construct a flyer on how to find and use the site for those not familier with forum/boards. I will do it and hope traffic increases. I am thinking about content and trying to get permission to post "Just for Today daily. I get it in my e-mail from NAWs everyday and hope it won't be a problem posting it here.

Thanks Mike

I've been asked by the Morongo Basin Area Service Committee to develop a flyer for distribution at meetings on the site and how to use it. Further they asked for it to be SIMPLE for those not experienced with forum/board sites. I hope to find time to add content to the site and get traffic up. I wish I had more time. :)
