hypothyriodism and meth use

I would like to bring up a subject that I am just learning about myself,am suffering from, and have had verry little luck finding information about. I am 42,male, and was diagnosed hypothyriod(lo-thyriod function). Red iodine is used in the manufacture of meth, and i was exposed to large doses at times past. I believe red iodine is used to treat hyper-thyriodism?(hi-thyriod function)Also,my condition is not common to men, am I correct oin this?, finally, if my suspition is correct, could not this condition be common to many former meth addicts? And if so, should not people in recovery be tested( it is a simple blood test)to aid in there recovery? I know personaly, I could not have stayed clean while suffering the side efects such as depresion, weight gain, lathargy, and, many others, untill I was diagnosed and treated with proper medication. thanks for any info Matthew Olney matthewolney@yahoo.com

Spark of Life Convention in Northern NJ

Hello all

I'm from Northern NJ and our area is planning our very first convention and in the spirit of unity I am encouraging all NA members from around the world to come and support this event in 2010.

Well right now we are in the planning phase and our not taking registration yet. However we have created a website that you can visit and find out more information about us and our area.

The biggest way you can help us right now is to come share your experience, strength, and hope on our web forum and check out our web site www.sparkoflife.org to access our web forum go to www.sparkoflife.org/forum.

We also have a mailing list on our website, feel free to leave your email and we'll notify you about our convention.

There is a forum on there called, "I'll be at spark of life" let us know where you’re from (country, state, and area) and that you'll be planning to attend our convention in 2010. But if you can't make it we would love for you to post to our forums and lend your support that way.

We are looking to make this convention great and I’m reaching out to all my fellow recovering addicts online and around the world.

Thank you for your Help and support.

Being of Service... Are you willing to step up?

I believe that service is just one area of a well rounded program. It is a special place for addicts who are willing to step out of their comfort zone, and give of themselves. Service has been an interigal part of my recovery. It keeps me in line with being God centered instead of being self centered... which is the core of my disease. It helps me to stay in tune with the ever changing atmosphere of recovery in and out of my area. It helps me to make admends to the still suffering addict, and the community in which I live; because I was the liar, cheat and theif that everyone had to deal with.

Service is really a gift that only we can open when we choose to participate. My experience with service has help me to grow into the person God, and I, knew I could be. Everything I've learn in service has been transfered to my everyday home and work life... I've learned how to handle money with a treasure commitment. I've learned that if I suit up, get to a meeting to set up, the addict seeking recovery will show up.... secretarys are invaluable. I've learned that it is not all about me. That it is all about you, and meeting your needs; and in the process my needs are met way beyond my wildest dreams. I've learned by being an literature distribution officer in my area, that I can handle a bank account, inventory supplies, and complete the re-ordering process to be sure that the still suffering addict has the life saving literature that Narcotics Anaymous offers. I've been intrusted in recovery by being of service. My own family wouldn't trust me for a really long time. It has taken them a decade or more to allow me to be in their presence without thinking in the back of their minds if I was going to rip them off. That alone is a miricle in itself!

So my question to you is.... Are you willing to be of service?
