Morongo Basin Area Service Committee Meeting

December 12, 2009

Meeting called to order at 8:30 am

Opening Prayer read by Rachel, Twelve Traditions read by Chris,

Twelve Concepts of Service read by Denis

Attendance total = 23 GSR total = 14

Roll was called, the following were present:

Executive Body: Chair = James R. / Treasurer = Michelle / Secretary = Marion
Alternates to the Executive Body: Vice Treasurer = Pattie / alt RCM = Joseph
Subcommittee Chairs: Outreach = Chris / Mtg Dir & Newsletter = Steve / Phone lines = Dalene / Public Info & H&I = Dennis / Activities = Robin / Literature = Larry / Convention Rep = Tom

The following were not present:

Vice Chair = Phil, excused for illness / RCM = Ken, 2nd consecutive; no sunshine letter to be sent at this time / Joint Activities Chair = Phil, excused for illness
Alternate Secretary = Position still open

All written reports will be placed into the archives. The following items were presented by members of the Area Service Committee, verbally:

The Chair did submit a written report and had nothing new to report.
RCM & Alt RCM had no report submitted.
Chris noted that the upcoming outreach activity will be held Feb. 27, 2010
Convention Committee Chair = Tom asked the GSRs to pick up brochures he brought for the convention to be held in July, 2010. He also asked them to pick up leader/reader forms. Tom also stated that he’d be unable to fulfill his position for a short period of time in about weeks and asked for a volunteer to cover his committee for that time.
James = Chair announced that the Ad hoc meeting that Phil was going to have following today’s MBASC Meeting is cancelled.

Break started at 9:01 am and we returned from break at 9:16 am

James called for a vote to approve the minutes from the November 2009 meeting. There were 14 GSRs available to voet. The vote was 13 – 0 – 1 The minutes were accepted.

Old Business:

Larry L. asked when the Literature Committee guidelines that he had submitted in the November meeting would be approved. James read the guidelines as submitted by Larry L. Dalene Motioned for a vote. The vote was 13 – 0 – 1. The guidelines were accepted as submitted.

New Business:

No new business was submitted.

James asked if there were any nominations for Alternate Secretary. There were none, the position remains open.

Announcements:

Dalene = Christmas Eve meeting will be held at the Panorama Ranch as the Yucca Valley Community center will not be open.
Barbara = The Saturday noon meeting that has been held at Little Church of the Desert is closed.
Michelle = Christmas Morning Meeting and New Years Morning Meetings will be held at 7:00 am at the Palms Baptist Church in 29 Palms.
Barbara = Keeping it Simple meeting has donated a T shirt to Area for the archives. They have more shirts available for the price of $20.00 per shirt.

Birthdays:

Chris = 3 yrs / Barbara = 1 yr.

Next meeting will be held January 9. 2010
